Around Town

  • July 9 18

If I have a little extra time, I like to drive through local neighborhoods and look at the homes. Sometimes brick patterns catch my eye. The other day, I noticed an apartment village. At first, the speckled brick looked like stone, but the clean lines gave it away. I loved another house's blue siding and grey brick; it exemplified the current color trend. Cool colors are modern and beautiful.

One home has stayed on my mind since I saw it. In the center of town, this house is the middle of the action. It has craftsman-style architecture with classic red brick. The special feature, though, was two gorgeous white columns framing the front porch. Here at JBM, they would be custom cast stone pieces.

It is amazing, what the little touches can do to a home's curbside appeal. The style of this home is common in our area. Red brick is classic, and this style of column dates back to Ancient Greece. This stand-out house is a compilation of tradition. There is not just one aspect that makes this house. Instead, it is the skillful combination of them all. I hope one day to build my own home to stand out among its neighbors.

Are you looking to build a home of beauty? JBM stocks and supplies a myriad of brick, manufactured stone, and siding. Come in to check out our selection!
